KDE 4.4 bindings & Ubuntu

If you are using Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) and the Kubuntu Beta repository, you may have noticed that the release of 4.4 RC2 broke the PyKDE bindings, which were left at version 4.3.x; for (temporarily) solving the issue, I have rebuilt the 4.3.95 packages from Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) to Karmic, without any modifications, and you can find them on my PPA. I don’t know if the Beta PPA will provide the final 4.4.0 bindings, mine are just for the RC2 release.

Please notice that they are absolutely not to be considered as stable or widely tested or any of this; they just Work For Me, and they may work for someone else, but I cannot guarantee anything on that.

Thanks a lot. Since I installed KDE 4.4 RC2, BackinTime doesn’t work anymore. You’re my personal hero today. ;)

And in other news, The epic Kubuntu maintainers hide and seek championship continues with no way of telling when it’ll end. Stay tuned for more details as they emerge.

Well, mine was not a criticism against Kubuntu maintainers, which I’m sure have good reasons for not to upgrade the bindings themselves; that’s why I wrote that I cannot guarantee stability, because I did the backport but I don’t know the reasons above…

I’m sure they also have a good reason for not giving us 4.4 RC3 (http://kde.org/announcements/announce-4.4-rc3.php) or the QT fixes (http://aseigo.blogspot.com/2010/01/qt-460-kde-sc-44-configchanged.html).

Thanks so much for these packages, I just encountered this problem this weekend, when I installed the textlaunch widget from kde look.
